Looking for a new therapist is not something to take lightly. You're looking for your secret keeper, your sounding board, your professional best friend... and for that reason - it's not an easy decision. Before we take the leap into your therapeutic journey, here is a bit about me and my journey to becoming a therapist.
Our in-office therapy sessions provide a safe, private, and serene environment where you can work through life’s challenges face-to-face with a licensed therapist.
For clients who prefer the convenience of therapy from home or are unable to visit in person, we offer virtual psychotherapy through Google Meet.
Walk and Talk therapy combines the benefits of traditional psychotherapy with the calming effects of nature. For local clients that live within a 20-mile radius of Utica, NY.
Our couples therapy sessions provide a safe space for partners to work on improving communication, resolving conflicts, and strengthening their relationship.
At Greenhouse Therapy Co., we offer a range of therapeutic services tailored to support individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and stress management. Each service emphasizes comfort, accessibility, and the nurturing connection between nature and healing, ensuring that your unique needs are met on your path toward mental well-being.
An intake is another term for a psychological evaluation. During your intake (first session), we will complete a full psycho-social-historical evaluation where I will collect information about you related to your past, present, and future in order to better understand where you are at psychologically and emotionally which will allow me to best evaluate your needs and further determine if I am the right professional fit for you.
All individual sessions last between 53-60 minutes, unless otherwise discussed. Couple sessions last 75 minutes.
Following your intake, we will discuss what your specific therapeutic needs are and base your session frequency off of that. Most clients come to therapy every 2-3 weeks. As we start to see improvements in the way you’re feeling, it is common to decrease session frequency. I have some clients who are seen monthly, or even every 8-12 weeks once they are in a place where maintenance check-ins are appropriate.
At this point in time, I do not have a brick-and-mortar office. My office is located within my home – a private sunroom which is off of my main living space. During the summer, we may also sit on my back deck in my fenced backyard. Many clients actually like this element of my practice, as it is focused on accomplishing true comfort. You can take your shoes off and relax while enjoying your therapy session. It IS important to note that I do have animals (dogs and a cat) so if you are allergic or have discomforts, virtual sessions may be the best option for you.
It is best to send all reschedules and general communications to me through email at alyce@greenhousetherapyco.com. Please allow 24-48 hours for a response. In last-minute circumstances, you may text me at 315-717-1687, but still expect some type of delay in my response. If a true emergency, always call 911 or present to your nearest emergency department. You can also always utilize the 24/7 National Crisis Hotline by calling or texting 988.
Unfortunately, I cannot offer “on-demand” texting and contact at this time. I am one-man-show and have a full caseload of clients to care for. Additionally, on personal time and weekends, it is crucial for me to be able to unplug and care for myself in order to best meet my client’s needs when I am “on the clock”. If a true emergency, always call 911 or present to your nearest emergency department. You can also always utilize the 24/7 National Crisis Hotline by calling or texting 988.
As a licensed clinical social worker, it is my ethical obligation to adhere to all HIPAA compliance regulations. I use a secure email platform, as well as a secure electronic medical record system to hold all of your files well protected. If you come to sessions in-person, there is the chance you may run into other clients coming or leaving their sessions – similar to a doctor’s office. Additionally, if you choose to opt in for weather-depending walk and talk therapy sessions, it is always possible we may run into someone that either you or I know in public. If this were to occur, I will do my best to ignore the person or keep it brief without mention or introduction of who you are. If opting into walk and talk sessions, this is a risk you are willfully accepting.
YES! Many clients apologize for slipping a curse word in during their time with me. Therapy is your time for self-expression. I am not the etiquette police, and to me, your ability to be “no-filter” is what tells me you are comfortable with me.
"I’ve been seeing Alyce for almost 3 years now. I highly recommend her if you are in need of therapy. I went through several therapists before finding Alyce. She was welcoming, friendly and I felt at ease my very first appointment. She is down to earth and easy to talk to. She has helped me through the most difficult time in my life. Give her a try you won’t regret it."

"I have seen Alyce for a few years now and I am very thankful that our paths crossed. She has helped me to open up and address the many stressors that life throws at you. She does this with compassion and understanding. I have never felt judged. We all make decisions in our lives that put our health and relationships in jeopardy. Alyce has helped me uncover the root causes of those decisions and she always guides me to be a better version of myself."

"I met Alyce during my pregnancy to assist the craziness of preparing to be a first-time mom. My postpartum experience was unexpected as I suffered with severe postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety. Alyce has truly made an impact on my journey and I have become confident as a mom and with myself. I would highly recommend Alyce."

"Alyce helped me through my first experience with therapy. She met me where I was at in terms of what I was and wasn't ready to talk about. She always remembered details and stories from previous sessions which made me feel extremely heard. She created a very safe space for me to cry, laugh, and everything in between. Because of Alyce, I was able to make a very big life change and can thank therapy with her for this. My time with Alyce came to an end because I was moving out of the country, but had I not been I would still be in sessions with her to this day."

"From my very first session with Alyce, I felt understood and supported without any sense of judgement. With Alyce’s ability to listen and provide guidance, my perspective on aspects of my life have transformed. Her approach to therapy created a safe and comfortable space for me to share my thoughts and emotions. Alyce has a special way of giving advice and suggestions without making patients feel like they are being told how to feel or react; she just gets it. I am unbelievably grateful for her consistent support and would highly recommend her services to anyone seeking a supportive and skilled therapist."

"Starting therapy was something I put off for a long time. Alyce was recommended to me by my doctor and when I finally had the courage to contact her she immediately made me feel comfortable. From our very first session she began helping me heal. She is great at listening and giving helpful advice on how to cope. Sessions with Alyce were my first step to finally feeling better."
